The CMST Style A carbon-fibre kit for the 2025 Tesla Model Y (the new "Juniper" facelift) is a bolt-on and tape-on upgrade that fits the latest Model Y without cutting or welding. Style A focuses on the front lip and a rear lip with diffuser, sharpening the lower bumpers in pre-preg dry carbon fibre. Each piece mounts with 3M VHB acrylic tape, a structural adhesive bead and self-tapping screws, so two people can complete the fit in an afternoon.
This guide covers the Style A pieces in the order we recommend for the cleanest panel gaps, with the test-fit and clearance checks that matter on the taller Model Y body.

Tools and preparation
Dry-fit each piece against the car before any tape backing comes off. The test-fit confirms the clip positions, shows how the gaps fall, and lets you mark alignment with masking tape. You will need:
- Trim-removal and plastic pry tools
- Electric screwdriver or impact driver with the supplied self-tapping screws
- Adhesion promoter and clean microfibre cloths
- Fine sandpaper (240β400 grit) to key the bonding faces
- 3M VHB tape (usually pre-applied) and a tube of glass-grade structural adhesive
- Masking tape for alignment, and a heat gun if the workshop is cold
- Ramps or a hoist to reach the lower bumpers comfortably
Handle the carbon by its edges and rest it on a padded surface β the clear-coat marks easily. Bond at room temperature: 3M acrylic tape grabs best between roughly 21Β°C and 38Β°C, so warm the panels and the car if you are working in a cold garage.
Step 1 β Front lip
Begin by offering the front lip up to the lower bumper to check the clip positions and confirm the fit before committing any adhesive. Clean the bumper face where the lip will bond, using the adhesion promoter to strip wax and road film. Sand the inside upper edge of the lip lightly, wipe it clean, then run 3M tape along that edge and add a few dabs of structural adhesive for a stronger hold. Peel one end of the tape backing, locate the lip with a second person steadying the opposite side, and confirm it sits centred with even corner wrap. Peel the rest of the backing, press firmly along the whole length, then drive the self-tapping screws into the lower edge to lock it. Finish by bonding the lip's left and right corner sections with tape and adhesive, pressing each home until the seam disappears.
Step 2 β Rear lip and diffuser
At the rear, remove the wheel-arch fasteners and the original lower bumper trim so the new diffuser can seat flush. Tesla mounts the number-plate light to the rear bumper, so support it on its bracket and reuse the factory wiring as you reassemble. Offer the rear lip to the bumper, line it up so the clips locate to the original mounting points, and fix it with self-tapping screws β the rear lip needs to clamp tight against the bumper with no visible seam. The diffuser then mounts to the rear under-tray; where the kit calls for it, secure the centre with structural adhesive and the outer points with self-tapping screws. Refit the number-plate light and reconnect it, then return the bumper trims and arch liners to their original positions.
Step 3 β Final alignment and curing
With both pieces fitted, step back and check the lip is square to the bumper and the diffuser fins are level. Re-press every bonded edge to make sure the tape has full contact. Leave the car to cure before washing or driving in the rain β acrylic tape reaches working strength in a few hours and full strength over several days.
Fitment tips and cautions
- Test-fit first, tape second. The clips and tape only locate cleanly once; confirm the position before peeling the backing.
- Protect the number-plate wiring. The rear bumper carries the plate light on the Model Y; support the bracket and reconnect it during reassembly.
- Watch the front overhang. The lip lowers the effective front clearance, so approach steep driveways and speed humps slowly and at an angle.
- Cold weather kills tack. Warm the panels and the bumper with a heat gun if you are bonding below about 18Β°C.
- Paint-match if you prefer body colour. The carbon ships clear-coated; a panel shop can respray before fitting.
FAQ
Will the CMST Style A kit fit the older pre-2025 Model Y?
No. Style A is cut for the 2025 "Juniper" facelift, which has revised front and rear bumpers. The earlier 2021β2024 Model Y uses a different kit. Check the model year before ordering.
What is the difference between Style A and Style B?
Style A and Style B are two design treatments for the same car. They share the bolt-on, tape-on fitment method; the difference is the shape and aggression of the lip and diffuser. Style A is the cleaner of the two, Style B is more pronounced.
Does fitting the kit require removing the rear bumper?
You do not remove the whole bumper, but you do release the arch fasteners and the lower bumper trim so the diffuser can seat flush and the number-plate light can be supported. The front lip fits without removing anything.
Is it dry carbon fibre?
Yes. The Style A lip and diffuser are pre-preg dry carbon fibre with a clear-coat finish, so the weave is visible and the panels are light and rigid. A matte clear-coat is available if you prefer a satin look.
Can one person fit it?
The front lip can be managed solo with care, but the rear lip and diffuser are far easier with a second person to hold the panel while you locate the clips and start the screws. We recommend two people for a clean result.
