CMST's carbon fibre body kit for the Porsche Panamera is a six-piece suite — front bumper vent trims (pair), front lip, side skirts (pair), and rear lip — each moulded in exposed dry carbon fibre and designed to attach to the factory Panamera body without replacing or permanently modifying any OEM panels. The kit adds aerodynamic definition to the Panamera's wide, low nose and long flanks while preserving the car's factory proportions and all sensor locations. It is available for Australian Panamera owners through AME Motorsport.

  • Vehicle: Porsche Panamera (971 generation, 2016–onward)
  • Material: Carbon fibre (dry carbon weave with UV-stable clear coat)
  • Pieces: Front bumper vent trims (×2), front lip, side skirts (×2), rear lip — six pieces total
  • Fitment: Adhesive tape + OEM mounting points, no body modification
  • Finish: Exposed 2×2 twill weave carbon fibre, gloss clear
  • Engine options covered: All 971 Panamera variants share the same body shell

The Panamera as a Modification Platform

The Panamera occupies a genuinely unusual position in the performance car market — a four-door grand tourer with a wide, low front end and a tapered fastback roofline that reads more like a stretched sports car than a conventional saloon. Porsche designed it with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 as the entry powertrain and a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 at the top, so the engine bay is already doing serious work. The bodywork, however, runs relatively conservative factory aero additions compared to Porsche's sports car range.

CMST's philosophy for the Panamera kit reflects an understanding of the car's character. Rather than reworking the bumpers or adding wide-body fenders, the kit supplements the existing factory lines. Porsche's Panamera family front face — the wide, low trapezoidal grille flanked by angular intake apertures — gains definition from the vent trim inserts and front lip without changing the fundamental shape that makes the car visually recognisable.

Front Bumper Vent Trims

The Panamera's front bumper has flanking intake apertures on each side of the lower grille. The CMST carbon fibre vent trims slot into these openings, adding a carbon weave inner frame that both improves airflow direction and adds visual depth. On the factory bumper these apertures are a plain black plastic opening — the carbon trim transforms them into a defined design element that coordinates with any other carbon additions on the car.

Fitment is straightforward: each trim presses into the existing aperture and bonds with automotive tape to the inner bumper surface. No modification to the front bumper is required. The trims are handed — left and right are mirror images and are not interchangeable.

Carbon Fibre Front Lip

The front lip for the Panamera mounts at the lower edge of the factory front bumper apron. On the 971-generation car, the bumper sits lower than previous Panamera generations due to the platform's wider front track, so the front lip sits close to the road surface — which is exactly where it needs to be to be effective at managing underbody airflow.

At motorway speeds, a correctly fitted front lip reduces the pressure differential between the front of the car and the underbody by directing the incoming airstream downward rather than allowing it to fill the high-pressure zone under the bumper. For a vehicle the size and mass of the Panamera, this has minimal effect on performance metrics, but it does contribute to front-axle aerodynamic stability at high speed — the Panamera's high mass means any aerodynamic lift force takes longer to overcome the tyre contact patch, but a front lip makes the front end feel more planted under sustained high-speed running.

Carbon Fibre Side Skirts

The side skirts run the full rocker panel length between the front and rear wheel arches. The Panamera's factory sill trim is a body-coloured plastic panel that follows the wide, low character line running the length of the car — the CMST carbon fibre skirts sit below and outside this factory sill, extending the visual ground line further down and tying the front and rear aero pieces together visually.

Each skirt bonds to the factory sill panel using 3M VHB tape across the inner mating face, supplemented by OEM retaining clips at each end where the skirt meets the bumper transition. The Panamera's wide body means each side skirt is a substantial piece — care during positioning and a two-person fit is strongly recommended.

Carbon Fibre Rear Lip

The rear lip completes the kit at the lower edge of the factory rear bumper. Porsche fits the 971 Panamera with a motorised rear spoiler that raises at speed and lowers at low speeds — the CMST rear lip is positioned at the bumper's lowest point and does not interfere with the motorised spoiler mechanism or the active air management vents in the rear bumper.

The rear lip on the Panamera mounts below the exhaust tip cut-outs in the factory rear bumper. Panamera exhaust configurations vary — Sport Exhaust and standard exhaust have different tip diameters and positions. The CMST rear lip is compatible with both configurations; no trimming should be required, but verify tip clearance during test-fit before bonding.

Why Carbon Fibre Suits the Panamera

The Panamera is a car that benefits from restrained additions rather than dramatic transformation. A widebody conversion or full bumper replacement would alter the character of a vehicle that Porsche intentionally positioned as a sports car in grand tourer clothing. Carbon fibre vent trims, a front lip, side skirts, and a rear lip add exactly the right amount of visual sharpening without crossing into territory that conflicts with the factory design intent.

Dry carbon fibre also makes sense here practically: the Panamera's factory kerb weight means that weight reduction is a legitimate engineering consideration. A full set of CMST carbon fibre additions will weigh less than their ABS or FRP equivalents while delivering the same fitment geometry, and the exposed weave finish coordinates naturally with the Sport Chrono dash trim, carbon interior options, and roof spoiler that many Panamera owners have already specified from the factory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Panamera generation does the CMST kit fit?

The CMST Panamera carbon fibre kit is designed for the 971-generation Panamera (2016 onward), which covers the Panamera, Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, Panamera Turbo, Panamera GTS, and hybrid variants (4 E-Hybrid, Turbo S E-Hybrid). All 971 variants share the same exterior body geometry. The previous 970-generation Panamera (2009–2016) has different bumper geometry and requires a separate fitment.

Does the kit include a rear wing, or is it only the six-piece lower kit?

The standard CMST Panamera carbon fibre kit covers front vent trims (pair), front lip, side skirts (pair), and rear lip — six pieces total. The factory Panamera rear spoiler is a motorised unit that deploys automatically; CMST does not produce a replacement for this specific mechanism. A separate carbon fibre ducktail-style spoiler is available as an addition for owners who want static rear wing definition.

Will the CMST kit affect the Porsche Active Aerodynamics system?

No — the CMST kit pieces do not interact with the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system. The motorised rear spoiler operates independently of all externally fitted aero additions below the spoiler line. Front bumper vent trims and the front lip are below the active cooling management system's components.

Can I fit the kit myself on a Panamera?

The front lip, side skirts, and rear lip all use adhesive tape and OEM mounting points, which is within reach for an experienced DIY installer. The vent trims are simpler — press-fit inserts. The side skirts are the most involved due to the Panamera's long rocker panel and the weight of the carbon pieces. Two people are needed for skirt alignment. Professional fitment is recommended if you want factory-standard panel gaps.

Is the CMST Panamera kit stocked in Australia or is it a special order?

AME Motorsport supplies CMST products to the Australian market. Stock levels vary by piece — enquire through the AME Motorsport website for current availability and lead times for the Panamera kit.

How does CMST's kit differ from Porsche's own Sport Design aero package?

Porsche's factory Sport Design package uses body-colour-matched ABS panels that integrate seamlessly with the painted bumpers. The CMST kit uses exposed carbon fibre weave, which sits visually distinct from the body colour as a deliberate styling contrast. Sport Design is the choice for seamless factory integration; CMST carbon fibre is the choice when the carbon texture itself is the intended visual statement.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
