Why Every Other BBK Won't Fit Your Truck
Offroad and heavy-truck owners run 17-inch and 18-inch wheels for three reasons: bigger sidewalls absorb rocks and potholes, taller tyre profiles give real flex on uneven terrain, and smaller rims are cheaper to replace when you bend one on a trail. It's a setup that works. Until you go to upgrade your brakes.
Traditional 6-piston and 8-piston calipers were designed around one assumption — that the owner would be running 19"+ track-style wheels. Their bodies are wider, their mounts sit further out, and the minimum rotor diameter they accept won't clear anything smaller than 19 inches of wheel. Fit one inside a 17 or 18 and the caliper physically contacts the spoke.
SET re-engineered the geometry from the inside out. The TX7's 6082-T6 forged body was laid out specifically to slip inside a 17-inch wheel while still clamping a 332mm rotor. The TX8 does the same trick one size up — it packs 148cm² of pad area inside an 18-inch envelope using a custom 355mm D83 rotor. Same stopping force. Different real world.

What's the real difference between TX7 and TX8?
The TX7 is a 6-piston caliper with up to 110cm² of pad area — ideal for mid-weight 4WDs and utes (1.8–2.3 tonnes). The TX8 is an 8-piston caliper with up to 148cm² of pad area — built for the heaviest trucks and SUVs (2.3+ tonnes, towing, heavy cargo). If your vehicle weighs more than 2.5 tonnes loaded, go TX8.
Do I need to upgrade to larger wheels?
No. That's the whole point. Both kits were designed to fit existing offroad and truck wheel sizes without forcing you into an expensive wheel swap.
